The type, size, connection, and structure of the pallet racking structure should be determined by comprehensive comparison. And analysis according to the category, quantity, size, access frequency, storage and transportation machinery types, performance, and control methods of the goods.

Provide us detailed requirements like warehouse building drawing, clear height, pallet dimensions and weight, forklift information (if have), we will make a racking system design plan for free according to your information.

Wrong installation may have safety hazards, and the effect of use is not good. And understanding the correct installation method can better maintain it during use.

How to install heavy duty pallet racking?

Heavy duty pallet racking usually contains Frames, Beams, Pallet Support or Wire Mesh Decking or Steel Panel (options), Safety Barrier, Upright Protectors, etc.,

Double-Deep-Heavy-Duty-Pallet-Racking

Heavy duty pallet racking installation steps as following:

Assemble Frames

Frame including uprights, H/D Braces, footplate

Make lines on the ground floor, Erect Frames along lines on the floor,

Put on Beams as per designed level height and put lock pins

Firstly, stand an upright frame and holds it in position while inserts a couple of pilot beams into the bottom of the frame.

Squaring off the first bay includes making sure there is adequate clearance from the wall - a minimum of 200mm is recommended

Next, line up the second frame to attach to the beam. At this time, you can position the node point of the upright bracing to the front. The bottom position of the upright bracing is prone to impact. There has a node point in this position, which can withstand greater force.

Then, use a tape measure to measure whether the two beam of the shelf are parallel, and you can use measuring diagonals and equal lengths for multiple comparisons. And used to determine if the uprights are vertical. If not, insert a gasket or packer under the bottom plate of the column to level it.

Install anchor bolts to footplates to fix racking

Cleans concrete dust from the hole and surrounds and then fastens the upright to the concrete slab with fixing bolts.

Last of all, tightens both fixing bolts on each upright and the pinning down of the first bay is complete.

Build the second and third bays as you did the first but before you pin down these bays you’ll need to run a string line to square off the run.

Don’t forget to level the subsequent bays and pin them down. the run is completed with only beams required at their correct levels to finish.

Install safety barrier & upright protectors finally

Install anchor bolts on the anchor plate to fix the rack; finally, install the safety barrier and vertical protection device.

The following measures should be taken from the ground to the bottom of the first pallet beam at the bottom of the rack structure column that is susceptible to collision by forklifts or other storage and transportation equipment:

Set up anti-collision protection devices such as bumpers or blocking levers. The bottom of the outer column is a double column.

Baseplate

For a certain type of assembled shelf structure that is not easy to accurately calculate, it should be proved through experiments that even if a certain outer column loses its full carrying capacity, the shelf can still stand upright. Once such damage occurs, immediately remove the load on the corresponding part of the shelf, and properly repair or replace some damaged components or anti-collision devices.

All column base plates should be levelled once with adjustable bolts before installing the column.

Attention

During Racking installation, must pay attention to the below points:

Frames & Beams assembling must be made as per installation drawings & photos provided by the supplier. If warehouse floor is not levelling, then need to add shim plate under footplates. If have any doubt during installation, need to ask the supplier.

Except for those equipped with automatic weighing devices, each assembled shelf should be set up with one or more permanent signs in a conspicuous place.

The maximum unit load, the maximum uniform load of each floor and the allowable limit of the maximum total load of each bay shall be marked on the sign with clear writing.

The width of the laneway of the rack structure should be determined according to the normal operation and operation requirements of the forklift stacker or other storage and transportation machinery.

How to install medium duty pallet racking?

Medium duty duty pallet racking or longspan shelving including Posts, Beams & Wooden or Metal panels.

Longspan Shelving

The medium duty pallet racking is assembled by uprights, beams, and laminates, and a separate group has two uprights. The medium duty pallet racking combination has no screws and directly snaps on the plate, which is easy to disassemble. The main and auxiliary connection form is adopted, and the stability is strong.

Medium Duty Shelving or Longspan Shelving assembling steps as following

Assemble frames;

Place Frames and put them on Beams with lock pins as per design layout plan.

Put on wooden or metal panels.

Medium Duty Shelving or Longspan Shelving assembling must pay attention to the below points

Assembling must be made as per installation drawings & photos provided by the supplier;

If have any doubt during installation, need to ask the supplier.

Conclusion

Medium duty pallet racking generally have a large load capacity. They can be placed directly according to the layout of the drawings given by the manufacturer of the rack customization during installation. It can be easily and quickly disassembled. The general customers can control the drawings to install and disassemble by themselves, which is very convenient.

The load capacity and height of heavy duty pallet racking are high. In order to ensure the stability and safety of the racks, drilling holes are required to fix the expansion bolts on the racks to the ground. The expansion bolts need to be disassembled. Therefore, the installation of heavy duty pallet racking needs to be completed by professional rack installers.
